Would you like to Ohanami with us?

ohanami

We’ve been a bit quiet over here since our 15th anniversary in February.

If you’ve been paying attention then you have heard of trips to faraway lands, the details of which have yet to be revealed. Please know that the chai journey to India will be shared, but not today. Today, we’d like to whisk you away to Japan, in Fairmont Park, and practice a new kind of Ohanami, formally known as “Flower Viewing”, but in true RTR fashion, we will be “Flower Tasting”! We’ve really made this event special and can’t wait to share all that we are manifesting. Please know that only so much can be contained in one email, so prepare to learn about one more tasty bonus perk to our Sakura appreciation event in a future communication. Until then, learn more about this weekends festivities in the information below.

Did you know that in 1926 Japan gifted Philadelphia with 1600 Sakura Cherry Blossom Trees to celebrate 150 years of American Independence?

These trees are going to be celebrated this weekend at the @phillysakura Cherry Blossom Festival! We will be selling a LIMITED Edition BLEND, locally foraged (with the help of some tall and talented family!)

Sakura White

Made from cherry blossoms that grow in the Germantown neighborhood near the Wyck Rose Garden.

The flowers are brined & pickled

... in plum wine

then dried & blended with

Jasmine Silver Needle & White Peony.

The blend has been well received over the years and we've been eager to share it with the Sakura Festival for some time. We have also created two more limited edition blends to make it easy to take home a trio of compostable loose-leaf bags.

Say hello to :

Sakura Green blended with White Monkey King, a Chinese Green &

Sakura Chai blended with our House Made Chai Masala, an Indian Black Tea.

If your mouth is not yet watering for the floral bouquet it will be when you shuffle over to the picnic blanket we will have spread out in close proximity to our booth (which will be just outside of the @shofuso Japanese Tea House.) Upon this blanket, we will be sampling the Sakura tea trio, see below for more details.

Join us as we absorb the radiant energy of the cherry blossoms, and take home some of our limited-edition spring blends. As always, made with completely compostable elements and sustainable packaging.

There are myriad activities available at the Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday and Sunday, please see their schedule of events for more information.

We will be selling 3 locally foraged blends during the Cherry Blossom Festival and would like to share a cupping experience with you upon our picnic blanket under the trees, for an authentic ohanami experience.

Please be sure to sign up for one of the 4 seatings of 4 people that will be available on both Saturday April 15th and Sunday April 16th.
